Job Description
DKT International seeks Country Managers to our newest operations in Cambodia and Laos.
DKT social business will provide family planning, safe abortion, and HIV prevention products, services, and technology through the marketing and distribution of a range of contraceptive and reproductive health products, including condoms. This includes both fast-moving consumer goods as well as ethical/pharmaceutical categories.
Established in 2024, the Cambodia and Laos operations are part of DKT Mekong, an expansion from DKT’s long and successful work in Vietnam since 1993. DKT Mekong HQ is in Vietnam and operates in Cambodia and Laos through commercial distributors.
The case for growth is significant. Opportunities and responsibilities will focus on 1) building distribution in the country with an existing portfolio of products, 2) driving demand for product uptake through brand and partnership development and innovative marketing and communication, 3) increasing the capacity and skills of health providers to better deliver care and services.
While DKT International is a non-for-profit social enterprise, a key objective is to build sustainability through cost-recovery, product cross-segmentation, and the use of business-minded practices and approaches.
Management Responsibilities:
- Achieve effective and aggressive distribution and effective and efficient demand generation at brand and category levels.
- Develop a well-structured team of highly motivated, results driven experts that are passionate about DKT’s mission, vision and values.
- Develop and implement annual business plans/budgets based on the regional strategy and annual regional sales targets.
- Ensure that sales, CYP, sales revenue and collection targets, as agreed with the Regional Directors are consistently achieved.
- Ensure robust financial and operating policies and procedures are established, documented and followed. Also ensure compliance with national government policies and procedures governing company law, employment, financial reporting, taxation, medical and pharmaceutical regulation etc.
- Continue to expand market coverage and penetration as well as number of active traditional and non-traditional outlets (ie: pharmacies, drug stores, general trade convenience stores, markets/supermarkets, public and private clinics/hospitals, NGO partners, beauty salons etc) through training, mentoring and the necessary support required by our commercial partners.
- Develop a network of key external relationships (ie: obgyn doctors, pharmacists, midwives, professors/universities, researchers, marketing agency, technical associations/groups, govt officials, policy markets, international organizations/UN agencies etc) with a view to generating and pursuing new opportunities for funding and/or strategic partnerships.
- Manage risk in the business by identifying potential threats and putting mitigation strategies in place. Risk-taking is good, provided these are measured risks.
- Engage actively with key stakeholders including current and potential donor, MoH and other organizations.
- Support the local regulatory activities including assisting in product registration, renewals and marketing material registration.
- Coordinate with regional departments to design, implement, supervise and report on high-quality marketing, trade marketing program and other operations ensuring all programs are completed within time, within budget, achieving program objectives and in line with company principles, values, minimum standards, policies and strategic plans.
- Provide market assessment, business and competitor landscape to regional departments monthly.
- When needed, make site visits to stakeholders to provide operational support to field site staff and ensure programs are being conducted timely and according to project plan.
- Understand staff training needs in coordination with HR and technical functions and be responsible for constantly build staff capacity with regular training or daily work.
Qualifications:
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a solid track record of success in strategy development and execution.
- Strong analytical, numerical and strategic skills.
- Solid background an experience in marketing and/or sales in the healthcare industry.
- University degree in healthcare/science, business, marketing or related field; MPH/MBA would be a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience as Director/Manager leading teams, budgets/P&L and public health programs.
- Experience in government/partners relations and collaboration; an existing network of contacts/KOL in the healthcare sector is essential.
- Significant demonstrated fundraising, personnel and financial management experience.
- Strong writing, presentation/communication and program development/management skills.
- A true leader.
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal and organization skills.
- Cambodia and Laos national or Permanent Resident with the right to work; The ideal candidate must be fluent in English and Khmer/Laos languages (written and spoken).
The candidate must share DKTs enthusiasm for providing and promoting contraceptives in developing countries and should enjoy and be comfortable with all aspects of family planning and reproductive health, including safe abortion. This role reports directly to the Regional Director, based in Vietnam.
This position requires a person who is accustomed to and enjoys working largely on his/her own with modest supervision, a person who likes to manage programs and be accountable for the results. Should have strong time management, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Candidates should be results oriented, success-driven, self-motivated, problem solving, comfortable with risk-taking, impatient with bureaucracy. A very strong sense of ethics, honesty, and integrity are assumed. Willingness to be posted in another country in the future is a plus.
