DKT Mekong’s spreading Love, Enhancing SRH/SH Knowledge for Women in Ha Mo Commune
On March 8, more than 200 women gathered at the Ha Mo Commune Hall (Dan Phuong District, Hanoi) for an informative session on reproductive and sexual health, organized by the Vietnam Family Planning Association in collaboration with DKT Mekong. The event aimed to raise awareness about proactive health management and equip women with essential knowledge for their well-being.
Empowering Women with Knowledge
In her opening remarks, Ms. Dinh Thi Ngan, Vice Chairperson of the Ha Mo Commune People’s Committee, emphasized the importance of reproductive and sexual health education in today’s society. She highlighted that empowering women with knowledge enables them to take better care of their health, ensuring both physical and mental well-being. This, in turn, fosters family happiness and contributes to the nation’s workforce development.

She also encouraged attendees to actively share the knowledge gained at the event with their communities, reinforcing the role of local advocates in spreading awareness about proactive healthcare and reproductive health management.
Expert Insights on Sexual Health and Family Planning
Dr. Mai Trung Son, Head of Communications at the Department of Population under the Ministry of Health, provided valuable insights into sexual health. He explained that sexual activity is a natural human need, fundamental to emotional and physical well-being. In marriage, a healthy sex life enhances intimacy, reduces stress, improves sleep, boosts self-confidence, and strengthens relationships.
However, Dr. Son also addressed the challenges surrounding discussions on sexual health, particularly the stigma that often prevents open conversations. A lack of proper knowledge can lead to unintended pregnancies and unsafe abortion practices, which pose serious health risks such as psychological distress, uterine infections, and in severe cases, fatal complications.

He expressed his appreciation for the strong support from the local authorities and the enthusiastic participation of the community.
