Contraception
There are fewer choices in one’s life more profound than the decision to have a child. How many children to have, or whether to have children at all, deeply affects each couple, their communities, and the societies in which we all live. DKT believes that all women and men have a fundamental right to decide whether and when to become parents, regardless of their country of origin or socioeconomic status. That’s why we do the work we do to promote contraceptives and ensure they are available, affordable and accessible to those who need them.
We envision a world where every woman and man has the requisite information needed to choose an appropriate contraceptive method and where every child is wanted. DKT socially markets family planning products in over 100 countries.
Sexually-Transmitted Diseases and HIV/AIDS Prevention
DKT remains a leader in innovative marketing and education of condoms and lubricants. By providing people with high quality, affordable options for safe sex, and accurate and nonjudgmental sexual health information, we reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections and HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
We accomplish this by building campaigns that promote healthier behavior such as consistent and correct use of male and female condoms. Experience has taught us that promoting condoms in an appealing and sexy way is more effective that simply emphasizing the health risks of unsafe sex. Our goal is to provide new reasons for consumers to try and use condoms. We do this by offering a wide array of condoms, including textured and scented condoms, condoms designed to delay ejaculation, and lubricants.
DKT focuses on those groups acknowledged to be especially at risk of HIV, including commercial sex workers, injecting drug users, men who have sex with men, and members of the military. DKT also engages young people through targeted media and digital campaigns, offering free counseling services at concerts and other youth-friendly activities, and providing age-appropriate sex education.
We prioritize product integration and partnerships to combat STDs and HIV/AIDS to better serve high-risk groups around the world. Initiatives include encouraging self-care options such as HIV self-test kits in several markets and rolling out more user-controlled products. DKT is paving the way for easier access to widespread testing in countries where HIV is often heavily stigmatized. We also organize HIV testing events and partner with organizations who support at-risk populations, including LGBTQI+ advocacy groups.
